Free Park & Ride bus travel extended to March 2026

Oxfordshire County Council’s offer of free park and ride bus journeys in Oxford will continue to 31 March 2026.

Individuals, families and groups can enjoy free return bus travel when they park at any Oxford park and ride site.

Who can travel for free?

Up to two adults and three children with a valid park and ride parking ticket.

Where is it valid?

On any Stagecoach, Oxford Bus Company, or Thames Travel bus that stops at a park and ride site in Oxford – not just the dedicated park and ride services.

How it works

  1. Park your car at Redbridge, Pear Tree, Seacourt, Thornhill, or Oxford Parkway Park & Ride sites. Parking costs just £2.50 for up to 16 hours.
  2. Show your parking proof (ticket or app) to the bus driver when you board.
  3. Travel for free – you, another adult, and up to three children – to anywhere in Oxford City Centre and key destinations like hospitals and universities.
  4. Enjoy a stress-free journey with no congestion charge and no city parking hassle.

Why this offer matters

Introduced on 29 October 2025 to support the council’s temporary congestion charge, this initiative helps ease travel while Botley Road remains closed.

The scheme has already encouraged more people to use park and ride services rather than driving into the city centre, and demonstrates how income from the temporary congestion charge is being reinvested to benefit residents and visitors.
