What we're doing to help improve access to, and information on, local bus services.
A suite of new bus maps showing the overall public transport network across Oxfordshire and in the county towns will be produced over the next 6 – 12 months. These maps will be in PDF format (or similar), full colour and easily printable to be used in interchanges, bus shelters and in other places for people to pick up. We will publish all new bus maps on this website.
Installation of new and upgraded Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) displays at bus stops and key public transport hubs and interchanges (including rail stations) continues using £1.8m of Government funding. The RTPI displays use live bus tracking information (where available) to accurately predict arrival times of buses. New displays are also configured to provide at stop announcements for users of the React Access Trigger mobile phone application.
Alongside a rolling plan of targeted investment in new poles, flags, timetable cases and bus shelters at specific locations, the Council aims to establish minimum standards across its entire estate of bus stops to further improve the passenger experience. This will ensure a more consistent offering across the County in terms of standards, facilities and accessibility at bus stops. The first step in this is to undertake an audit of all existing bus stops, shelters and infrastructure, for which funding is available during 2025/26.
Separately and working together as a partnership, the County Council and bus operators have invested in maintaining and developing the county’s bus network over recent years.
